What to Expect and Popular Activities on your Alaskan Cruise

Reader’s Question:

I have lived all my life in one of the most humid states in the US and I think it’s time to try something different like- going on an Alaskan cruise. Is it really cold over there and what can I expect in my cruise?

Alaska lies in westernmost extension at the northern tip of the North American Continent and is separated from the rest of the US by Canada within the Arctic region. That’s why the average winter climate in this area is 20 degrees below zero and the mean annual temperatures range from 40’s to a chilly 10 degrees along the Arctic Slope north of the Brooks Mountain Range but elsewhere in the state, temperature contrasts are much more moderate. So, before you proceed with your cruise, pack wisely and dress in layers.

Typically, you may picture Alaska with icebergs and snow-capped mountains. Yes, the sight and sound of Alaska’s vast glacial masses falling from the cliff, or suddenly appearing from the submarine ice-foot, is something you that should witness. It is so grand and impressive beyond description that you will never disregard. You can slip through narrow passages on you Alaskan cruise and get right up close to the cries of the eagles, the crackling of the glacier ice, rarely seen glacial wonderlands the playful splashes of humpback whales and sea lions.
